Icelandair – 'Iceland's Next Solar Eclipse' Promotion
Introduction
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. THIS PROMOTION SHALL BE GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF ICELAND AND SUBJECT TO THE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF THE ICELANDIC COURTS.
The Icelandair "Iceland's Next Solar Eclipse" Promotion ("Promotion") begins on 5 August 2026 and ends on 19 August 2026 ("Promotion Period"). Participation constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement to these Terms & Conditions. The Promotion is sponsored by Icelandair, Flugvellir 1, 221 Hafnarfjörður, Iceland.
1. Eligibility
Open worldwide to natural persons aged eighteen (18) years or older who complete the official registration form during the Promotion Period. Employees of Icelandair and their immediate family members are not eligible.
2. How to Enter
Participants may submit one (1) entry by completing the official registration form. One (1) entry is permitted per email address. Participation is free of charge.
3. Communications and Marketing Consent
By submitting an entry, participants consent to Icelandair contacting them by email for the administration of the Promotion, including, but not limited to, entry confirmation, winner notification, prize fulfilment and other communications relating to the Promotion.
Participants also consent to receiving marketing communications, newsletters and promotional emails from Icelandair. Participants may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in any marketing email. Unsubscribing from marketing communications will not affect communications that are necessary for the administration of the Promotion.
4. Winner Selection
One (1) eligible entrant will be randomly selected from all valid entries received worldwide and contacted using the email address provided. If the selected winner cannot be reached within seven (7) business days, Icelandair reserves the right to select an alternate winner.
5. Prize
The winner will receive:
A Gift Certificate (the "Gift Certificate") for specified travel services for up to four (4) passengers, consisting of two (2) adults and two (2) children, to Iceland in 2196, issued by Icelandair and entitling the holder to return transportation from an Icelandair gateway and up to five (5) nights' accommodation in a four-star hotel (or similar standard accommodation, as determined by Icelandair) in connection with the total solar eclipse currently scheduled to occur on 26 June 2196, based on current astronomical calculations, subject to these Terms & Conditions.
As part of the Promotion, the winner will receive a unique commemorative item provided by Icelandair. The commemorative item is symbolic in nature, has no independent cash value, is not a boarding pass or travel document, and does not constitute the legal entitlement to the travel services.
A Gift Certificate for return transportation from an Icelandair gateway and up to four (4) nights' accommodation in a four-star hotel (or similar standard accommodation, as determined by Icelandair) for up to four (4) passengers, consisting of two (2) adults and two (2) children, to Iceland in September 2026 (or on such other dates as determined by Icelandair). Travel dates, accommodation, and itinerary shall be determined by Icelandair. The Prize does not include any costs or expenses not expressly stated in these Terms & Conditions.
6. Transfer and Inheritance
The Gift Certificate and the associated rights may not be sold, assigned, auctioned, exchanged, pledged or otherwise transferred, except by inheritance in accordance with these Terms & Conditions. The winner may designate one or more heirs or beneficiaries to inherit the Gift Certificate and the associated rights. Icelandair reserves the right to require reasonable documentation before recognizing any successor or transfer by inheritance.
7. Publicity
By accepting the Prize, the selected winner (the "Passenger") grants Icelandair the right to publish the Passenger's name, photograph and/or likeness in connection with the announcement of the Promotion. Icelandair may share this announcement on its website, social media channels and other owned marketing channels without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
8. Changes Over Time
Due to the unique nature of the Promotion, Icelandair reserves the right to make reasonable modifications to transportation arrangements, redemption procedures or prize administration resulting from changes in law, technology, ownership, commercial operations or other circumstances arising before the scheduled travel date, while preserving the overall intent and value of the Prize.
9. Limitation of Liability
Icelandair reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, suspend and/or modify the Promotion, or any part of it, at any time, without notice, and to award prizes using all eligible, non-suspect entries received as of the date of such termination or suspension, if any infection, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause beyond Sponsor's reasonable control affects the integrity or proper conduct of the Promotion.
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or the operation of the Promotion, or who acts in violation of these Terms & Conditions or in a disruptive manner.
Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications failure, theft, destruction of or unauthorized access to entries. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, illegible, incorrect, delayed, garbled, undelivered or misdirected entries; network failures; internet congestion; technical malfunctions; typographical or printing errors; or any human, mechanical or electronic errors relating to the administration of the Promotion, the processing of entries, the selection or announcement of the winner, or the awarding of the Prize.
Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion may constitute a violation of criminal and civil laws. Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and other remedies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of an entrant, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter the Promotion. "Authorized account holder" means the natural person assigned to the email address by an internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses. Sponsor may require proof that the selected winner is the authorized account holder.
Due to the unique nature of the Prize and its intended redemption date, Icelandair reserves the right to make reasonable modifications to the administration or fulfilment of the Prize where required by changes in applicable law, technology, transportation, ownership, operational structure or other circumstances occurring prior to redemption, provided that the overall intent and value of the Prize are preserved as closely as reasonably possible.
10. Taxes
The winner is solely responsible for any taxes, duties or governmental charges arising from acceptance or use of the Prize, where applicable.
11. Privacy
Personal information collected will be processed in accordance with Icelandair's Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation for the administration of the Promotion and for marketing purposes where consent has been provided.
12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions, and the Promotion, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Iceland. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms & Conditions or the Promotion shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Icelandic courts.
13. Additional Notes
The Gift Certificate constitutes the legal entitlement to the Prize. Any commemorative materials provided in connection with the Promotion are symbolic in nature, have no independent cash value and do not constitute the legal entitlement to the travel services.
